PETRACOVICH PRESS KIT

Evolved from four track musings, Petracovich's bedroom folk-tronica is a low-fi experience of intimate vocals, crafted songs and the introspective production of muffled beats and ambient textures. The music has been lauded in over 75 publications and received airplay on over 200 stations, including regular rotation on the iconic “Morning Becomes Eclectic” with Nic Harcourt of KCRW. Petracovich live consists of Jessica Peters on two keyboards, laptop and vocals and Heather Houseman on cello. The music has drawn comparisons to Aimee Mann (songwriting and vocals) and Sparklehorse, Portishead, and Tom Waits (production and mood).

PRESS

"Top 10 albums of '05 - (We Are Wyoming). . .a sublime collision of piano, chiming bells, and drums."
Boston Globe, Dec. 2005

“Petracovich’s music is a perfect balance between rhythmic beats, atmospheric backdrops, striking images and angelic vocals. The sound, which has caught the ear of influential radio programmers, is simultaneously worldly and unworldly.”
Paste Magazine, Feb/March 2006

"Whether playing kalimba, synth or bells Peters has a knack for textural complexity. . .[and] wields a gorgeous voice that Mann freaks should love."
Magnet, Jan/Feb 2006

“From the first tentative notes of Debussy’s “Clair de Lune” on into a shadowy curtain of toy xylophone tinkles, airy whistles, and byby gurgles, it’s easy to picture (Petracovich) as the good piano student gone awry . . . as earnestly angelic and bent as Lynch balladeer Julee Cruise of the gentle experimentalists of Lali Puna.”
The Seattle Stranger, Sept 2005

“…a life sized music box…Lush, simple and beautiful, she is a minimalist emphasizing the importance of ambient silence as much as the sounds that break it up.’
Rochester City-News, Oct 2005

“The spacey atmospheres and ambient textures of we Are Wyoming are simply stunning. Hopeful and heavy and full of childlike wonder, We Are Wyoming wraps around you like a favorite blanket – make that several blankets.”
Lost At Sea Oct 2005
